Welcome to Retirement Revolt Substack!
About 3 in 10 Americans who are 59 or older do not have any money put away for retirement. – CBS News Money Watch, 4/18/2024
Let me help you achieve retirement security
Welcome to The Retirement Revolt Substack – the premium blog dedicated to helping you understand the issues impacting your retirement security so you can be better prepared for the “golden years!”
What is the Retirement Revolt?
I reject the conventional wisdom of a US-based retirement that the financial industry seems to have planned for you and me.
I already know I can’t retire in the US; anyway, it’s not even desirable.
That’s a recurring theme throughout the article you’ll find on the Retirement Revolt Substack.
Now, to the main issue—retirement security is people's #1 financial issue, even surpassing owning their own homes.
The era of gold-plated pension plans is long gone, replaced by worries over Social Security’s eventual insolvency and a swath of under-invested Americans outliving whatever nest eggs they might have cobbled together because of the Do-It-Yourself US retirement scheme.
Are you prepared with the information and insights you need to create predictable income for the length of your retirement?
Well, you’re in the right place to learn how!
Boost your self-education about retirement security with the Retirement Revolt Substack!
Retirement planning is one of the most difficult challenges workers face as they progress through their careers.
As the startling statistic above states, many fear – and I’m among them – that they will be unable to sustain their quality of life if they retire even at 65.
For us Gen Xers, the retirement age will probably be closer to 70!
I’m so glad you’re interested in increasing your wealth for retirement security after your life of hard work and sacrifice.
You deserve it!

Frankly, one of the biggest myths about retirement is that people choose when they are ready to retire.
Unfortunately, in too many cases, life circumstances dictate your exit from the workforce. And you need to be ready.
By subscribing to the Retirement Revolt Substack, you will be empowered to take the reins of your retirement planning.
You might even decide to retire overseas, which is a more affordable way for some to live out their golden years in bliss.
Who I Am
I am Winn Trivette II, a freelance writer and researcher about economic, financial, and geopolitical issues with an advanced degree in international affairs.
I bring a unique focus to this topic, which others are unable to do, and it centers on retirement security—a dilemma I face, like many millions.
Note: – I am not a financial advisor, and all information is provided “as is.” Please read our Terms of Service for any further information.
I am an individual investor nearing retirement who wants to share my knowledge of business, economics, geopolitics, saving, and investing in plain English—on the road to financial independence.
I come from the perspective of an individual saver and investor. I use my knowledge of international and domestic economics and finance, geopolitics, and investments to scrape together a nest egg for later years.
As we’ve seen already in the past three years with the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the growing threat of China to liberal democracies, global political issues can impact your financial well-being.
The geopolitical angle is a prime advantage that I pass on to you because we live in an interdependent global economy.
Whether we like it or not, global economic and political events impact our bottom lines today more than when my parents were saving for retirement.
As mentioned earlier, I’m a Gen Xer who rejects the “conventional wisdom” of the retirement financial industry and realizes that the best plan at this time is to live my late years outside the US for various reasons.
According to a report by Fidelity Investments, Gen Xers feel the least confident of the 4 generations in the workforce about their retirement prospects.
My conclusions are mainly reflected in the declining quality of life in the US, the toxic social, political, and economic environment, the impending financial crisis of a multi-trillion-dollar national debt.
Add in the prohibitive costs of living out the “golden years” here because I’m late in saving for my retirement security.
Therefore...An International Retirement is a recurring theme in new coverage in the blog
I’ve seen a good part of the world and know a better life can be had beyond the US.
I once taught English in Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia again for over a decade.
With access to the US dollar, a high standard of living is within reach – I saw it with my own eyes.
For me, international living is something I yearn to get back to quickly!
So, you’ll notice the blending of articles about retiring abroad in the coverage of news and information.
